Index.hu
7/11/2026This is a major national newsroom's live CMS-driven news operation, not a cloneable app — a prompt can only ever fake the wrapper, never the content or ad/analytics machinery behind it.
You can mock the homepage layout in an afternoon, but not the newsroom, journalists, editorial pipeline, and 25+ years of brand trust in Hungarian media.
An AI tool could quickly mock up a static news homepage layout: header/nav, headline grid, category sections, and footer with RSS/copyright links styled similarly to Index's front page.
Behind the facade is a full editorial CMS publishing hundreds of articles/day across many authors (visible /szerzo/ author routes), an ad-tech stack (AdOcean, Google Ad Manager/DoubleClick programmatic ads), analytics/observability pipeline (Segment, GA, custom indexstat tracker, error monitoring), push notifications (OneSignal), RSS syndication per section, search infrastructure, and a paywall/registration ("passport") system referenced in the JS — none of which a prompt can generate since it requires a newsroom, journalists, and enterprise ad/analytics contracts.
Not worth cloning: the visible page is trivial to mock up in an afternoon, but the actual product is a large media company's live editorial and ad-tech operation — value is 100% in constant original content and advertiser relationships, none of which prompting can produce.
Index.hu is a top-tier Hungarian news portal, ranked among the top 5 most-visited sites in Hungary and the #1 or #2 News & Media Publisher in the country with tens of millions of monthly visits, competing directly with telex.hu, 24.hu, origo.hu, and 444.hu.
$5,000+ (this isn't a small app — running an equivalent operation requires a CDN/media-heavy CMS, ad-server integrations, push infra, and — most critically — a full-time newsroom staff, which dwarfs any hosting cost)
The real business runs on programmatic display advertising (visible AdOcean/DoubleClick integration) plus native/sponsored content and possibly subscriptions; a clone with no original journalism and no ad-network relationships has no realistic path to replicating this revenue.
telex.hu, 24.hu, origo.hu, 444.hu, hvg.hu, blikk.hu, portfolio.hu
You could build it — but that moat means you can't win. Find a better bet.
